Written

On Friday, February 17th, the Ontario Lacrosse Association forwarded a letter to Ontario Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Hon. Neil Lumsden (Hamilton East—Stoney Creek), asking for support for the permanent inclusion of lacrosse in the Canada Summer Games. Our letter, which is included below, outlined our position in advance of Minister Lumsden's attendance at the two-day conference focused on advancing governments' collective priorities for sport in Canada which was attended by federal, provincial and territorial (FPT) ministers of sport, physical activity and recreation.

On Saturday, February 18th, the Hon. Pascale St-Onge, Minister of Sport confirmed that lacrosse, the National Summer Sport of Canada, would be added to the official Canada Games program, beginning with the 2025 Games hosted in Newfoundland and Labrador.

We thank both Minister Lumsden and Minister St-Onge for their continued support of lacrosse in Ontario and throughout Canada.
